Election Judges … How to apply

Minnesota law allows for two types of citizen involvement in helping ensure the integrity of the elections.

  • Election Judges
  • Election Challengers

Election Judges

Election judges are essential to our democracy. Election judges are officials that staff local polling places, administer election procedures, and ensure that the rights of voters are protected on Election Day. Serving as an election judge provides an opportunity to learn about the elections process and is a great service to our community. (more detail)

Persons in Bridgewater Township interested in serving as an Election Judge may contact Janalee Cooper, Clerk of Bridgewater Township. Read More »

Trout Stream Restoration

As you may know, Bridgewater Township is partnered with and supporting St. Olaf college and the Cannon River Watershed Project in their work on the Rice Creek Assessment Project. Rice Creek is one of our important natural resources and one that we, the Cities of Dundas and Northfield have special interest in.  This presentation (below) will help inform our efforts to protect this fragile resource. This is a free and open presentation.

Trout Stream Restoration

Dr. Michael Osterholm, epidemiologist and trout enthusiast, will share the story of rehabilitating three trout streams on his Prairie Song Farm in Iowa. Until 2002 the streams were degraded by severe bank erosion and a lack of in-stream cover. Since that time, an extensive effort was made to enhance stream habitat, increase fish and prey populations, and improve spawning sites. This presentation will provide a comprehensive overview of issues surrounding coldwater stream improvement. Lessons learned will inform restoration efforts on our local trout stream, Rice Creek.

Rice County is hosting an informational meeting on solid waste operations at the Rice County landfill (the landfill is located in Bridgewater Township, Rice County Recycling Center, 3800 East 145th Street, Dundas, MN 55019). This will be an important meeting as they will be discussing plans for future expansion of that facility.

Rice County Public Informational Meeting On Solid Waste Operations

Ever wonder what happens to the garbage and recycling that is produced in your home and is picked up by your hauler? Come out and see what happens to your garbage and recycling that is hauled to the Rice County Solid Waste Facility. Rice County recently renewed the demolition and municipal solid waste landfill permits that relate to the facility and completed construction of a new municipal solid waste landfill cell.

At this time Rice County Environmental Services would like to invite residents to attend a public informational meeting on solid waste operations. The public informational meeting will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the Rice County Recycling Center, 3800 East 145th Street, Dundas, MN 55019.

Information will be presented on Rice County’s current landfill, recycling and household hazardous waste operations, as well as future landfill cell construction areas. Tour of the full facility/landfill will be conducted after a short presentation. An agenda will be posted on the Rice County Solid Waste website.

Additional information on Rice County’s solid waste operations is available on the Rice County website at www.co.rice.mn.us/waste. For questions about the meeting, please contact Rice County Environmental Services at 507-332-6833 or by email RCSolidWaste@co.rice.mn.us.

CONTACTS:
Julie Runkel, Environmental Services Director, (507) 332-6113
Gary Weiers, County Administrator, (507) 332-6121

The Township encourages interested parties to attend this important meeting. It is this landfill that provides Bridgewater with an annual hosting fee.
